Go IITB 2011 Campaign Newsletter

Dear friends,

Greetings and belated Diwali and Eid wishes! It has been a year since our last GO-IITB annual campaign. While all of you receive periodic updates via the IITB alumni newsletters, we would like to highlight some of the new developments and exciting progress made by IIT Bombay as a result of your contributions as we kick-off the GO IITB 2011 Fundraising Campaign.

GO-IITB 2010 was a grand success with the most number of participants ever, and we need your help to beat that record this time around. In last year's campaign, we had spotlighted a few giving opportunities for alumni donations and support, and the response was gratifying:

• 95 donors supported Hostel Alumni Team Stewardship (HATS)
• Over 50 donors donated funds for the Young Faculty Award (YFA) and Faculty Fund
• Over 200 donors picked "Greatest Need" and helped support causes such as the Student Development Fund and Faculty Development Fund

In this newsletter and in future ones to come, we will report on the progress on specific initiatives funded by alumni donors to demonstrate the real impact of your contributions. We are of course counting on your continued support to take these initiatives further with your support for GO-IITB 2011.

Important milestones reached by HATS so far include:

• Over Rs. 1.2 Crores ($242,000) in total funds collected to date
• 287 donors worldwide to date
• Hostels 7, 4 and 8 lead the race with 3/4th of the total amount raised
• Over 200 retired mess workers helped with gratuity payments
• State of the art gym equipment purchased by H4
• Bookshelves installed in all rooms of H7
• Digital camera, musical instruments, home theatre etc. for H2 and H3
• Laundromat solutions i.e. washers and dryers ordered for H8 and underway for H6.
