Donations are coming in and competition among batches is heating up! Based on latest reports Class of '70 (C70) who held their 40-year reunion and the Class of '75 (C75) are in a neck-to-neck race. But this is not a 2 batch race - Class of '86 (C86) is having its 25-year reunion and is obviously expected to be in the lead and other batches are frantically trying to catch up to join the GiG - Gang in Giving.
President Obama Appoints IIT-B Alum at Top Energy Job
President Barack Obama has appointed Arun Majumdar, an IIT-Bombay alumnus as the top bureaucrat in the Department of Energy. IIT-B Class of '86 to Establish Counseling Service
To address the academic and psychological problems faced by students of IIT Bombay, the focus of the institute’s 1986 batch will be to establish a dedicated “counselling services programme”. The initiative is part of the legacy project of the 1986 batch, titled “student quality of life improvement”. The alumni are getting together this month for their silver jubilee reunion...more

UID Project Future Uncertain
The future of the ambitious Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) project led by Nandan Nilekani - an IITB alumnus - could be at stake as a parliamentary standing committee is understood to have rejected the National Identification Bill 2010, citing a number of flaws in it. The first lecture of IIT Bombay happened on June 25, 1958 in a building in Worli, Mumbai. The building belonged to Synthetic and Art Silk Mills Research Association (SASMIRA) and was used since construction of IIT Bombay was not complete by then.
