Obama CTO at PanIIT2009
President Obama's CTO Aneesh Chopra will join over 3000 IIT Alumni from across the world to participate in the PanIIT 2009 Global Conference in Chicago. Leaders from industry, academics and government sector will address challenges and opportunities in key areas such as Alternative Energy, Healthcare, Digital Infrastructure and Climate Change.
Kapil Sibal, India's minister for human resource development, Aneesh Chopra, America's chief technology officer, and Sam Pitroda, India's National Knowledge Commission chairman, will be the key speakers at the Pan-IIT Global Conference to be held in Chicago Oct 9-11.
About 3,000 IITians from around the world are expected to attend the annual gathering, organising committee conference chairman Ray Mehra said. He said Kapil Sibal will open the conference while Chopra will be the keynote speaker at the gathering.
"Chopra's presence at the Pan-IIT conference will underline the strong commitment of the Obama administration for nurturing innovation as the engine of growth for the US and indeed the global economy," Mehra said.
He said the theme of this year's conference is 'Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Global Economy'.
Jim Owens, chairman and CEO of Caterpillar; Raghuram Rajan, Eric J. Gleacher distinguished service professor of finance at the University of Chicago and former chief economist of the IMF; and Prith Banerjee, senior vice president (R&D) at Hewlett Packard Labs, will be other key speakers.
