IIT-B's fest to promote youth as 'change-makers'
IITB's annual technical festival, Techfest, has taken up several initiatives which promote youth as change makers.
In its 14th year, IIT-Bombay's annual festival, Techfest, has taken up several initiatives that promote the youth as future changemakers.
As a part of the Techfest 2010, young and budding engineers were asked to bring forth their initiatives and innovations of a competition called "Prayas- Utkarsh", especially in field of agriculture and rural technologies. AGRIBOT, a self-directed agricultural robot powered by solar energy, came as an innovation from a B.Tech mechanical engineering student from Hyderabad. It can control various aspects of farming like ploughing and leveling, seed sowing, irrigation, pest controlling, apart from on field surveillance using camera movement.
This year, a social entrepreneurship programme called Verizon has been added to Techfest. Their next initiative, India Unmute Campaign. is based on the idea that youth can be instrumental in creating a better India.
