Young robot enthusiasts from across the country are gearing up to showcase their skills in the annual national-level robotics competition, Tricks, at IIT Bombay. It is an initiative of the robotics start-up incubated at IIT Bombay's Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) called robo.in.

"Tricks is the annual robotics competition for students from across the country in the age group of 12 to 18 years," said Siddhartha Khandelwal, a member of robo.in. "Students have been toiling away for the last four weeks to build their robots for the main competition on December 12. Robotics is interdisciplinary and robo.in aims to bring kids closer to technical education. Through Tricks we try to introduce concepts of practical learning in science and technology."

The students have been mentored and guided at the 'doubt-solving sessions' by robo.in to help them build robots according to the problem statements given.

Tricks will have two categories of competition, manual and autonomous. For 'soccer mania', in the manual category, the robots will have to kick, push, or propel a ball and get maximum points by scoring goals.
