Distinguished Alumni Awards 2010 Announced

IIT Bombay will celebrate its 51st Foundation Day on March 10th with TIFR Director Barma as Chief Guest. The 2010 Distinguished Alumni Awardees are Dr. Nitish Thakor, Mr. R. Chandrashekhar, Mr. Adil Zainulbhai, Mr. Madhusudan Sivasankar (Shri Madhu Pandit Dasa), and Mr. Colin H. Gonsalves. The S. C. Bhattacharya Award of Excellence in Research in Pure Sciences 2009 and the H. H. Mathur Award for Excellence in Research in Applied Sciences, 2009 will be presented to Professor Dulal Panda, Department of Bioscience & Bioengineering and to Professor M. C. Deo, Department of Civil Engineering, respectively.

Foundation DayThe Indian Institute of Technology Bombay will be celebrating its 51st Foundation Day link.jpg on Wednesday, 10th March 2010, at P.C. Saxena Auditorium in IIT Bombay. Professor M. Barma, Director, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research(TIFR), will be the chief Guest. This year Five Distinguished Alumni Awards, one S.C. Bhattacharya Award for Excellence in Research in Pure Sciences, 2009 and one H. H. Mathur Award for excellence in research in Applied Sciences, 2009 will be presented on the occasion.

Every year IIT Bombay acknowledges a select group of alumni achievements by honouring them with the Institute's Distinguished Alumni Award. This is the highest honour the Institute bestows. This year IIT Bombay will honour 5 recipients with this award: leaders in academia, industry, the government, activism and even a spiritual head. It is a true reflection of the diversity of fields in which IITB alumni continue to leave their mark. 

2010 Distinguished Alumni Awardees:

  1. Dr. Nitish Thakor,(B.Tech., Electrical Engg., 1974), Professor, Johns Hopkins University;
  2. Mr. R. Chandrashekhar, IAS,(M.Sc., Chemistry, 1974), Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Government of India.
  3. Mr. Adil Zainulbhai, (B.Tech., Mechanical Engg., 1977), Managing Director, McKinsey India
  4. Mr. Madhusudan Sivasankar (Shri Madhu Pandit Dasa), (B.Tech., Civil Engg., 1981), ISKCON (Akshaya Patra)
  5. Mr. Colin H. Gonsalves, (B.Tech., Civil Engg., 1975), Founder, Human Rights Law Network 

 

The S. C. Bhattacharya Award of Excellence in Research in Pure Sciences 2009 and the H. H. Mathur Award for Excellence in Research in Applied Sciences, 2009 will be presented to Professor Dulal Panda, Department of Bioscience & Bioengineering and to Professor M. C.
