Alumni Student Mentorship Program 2010 launched by Student Alumni Relations Cell

Student Alumni Relations Cell (SARC) set in motion the second phase for its Alumni Student Mentorship Program (ASMP) on 14th August, 2010 with improvised matching criteria for students and alumni. ASMP, which was launched in January, turned out to be a very effective platform for interaction between alumni and students and resulted in a lot of alumni getting reconnected with the institute. Student Alumni Relations Cell (SARC) set in motion the second phase for its Alumni Student Mentorship Program (ASMP) on 14th August, 2010 with improvised matching criteria for students and alumni.

With the aim of enhancement of student alumni relationship SARC has come up with an idea of Alumni Student Mentorship Program. The aim of this program is two fold. Firstly, To provide alumni a platform to interact with students on a one to one basis. Secondly, To provide students with mentorship so that they can make informed decisions regarding their careers.

ASMP, which was launched in January this year, turned out to be a very effective platform of interaction between alumni and students. The program resulted in a lot of alumni getting reconnected with the institute through the interaction sessions with current students. For its first initial phase, 134 alumni registered for the program and 473 students were benefited.

"Thanks and congratulations on starting the alumni mentoring initiative. It feels nice to come back to the institute and very fulfilling to interact with young talented and passionate minds who are eager on charting their course. The SARC committee and  the volunteers are an enthusiastic bunch and am amazed at their commitment and effort of making us comfortable. I wish them the best in their endeavour", said Sachin Chavan, alumnus from chemical engineering department  from the batch of 1992, after meeting his three mentees.

Students were also very enthusiastic about the program. "Very good initiative, I enjoy my conversation with my mentor, though he is a very busy person, but people are supposed to be like that. Kudos to SARC. I have only chatted with my mentor, neither met him nor audio/video chatted with him, still he is very supportive and friendly" said Neha Agrawal, a 4th year student from Electrical Engineering.
