Arjun Divecha was named chairman of Grantham Mayo Van Otterloo & Co., effective Oct. 1. Mr. Divecha, company board vice chairman and head of its emerging markets equity division, replaces Jeremy Grantham, who will remain a board member and continue as GMO's chief investment strategist.

Arjun Divecha was named chairman of Grantham Mayo Van Otterloo & Co., effective Oct. 1, a GMO spokesman confirmed today.

Mr. Divecha, company board vice chairman and head of its emerging markets equity division, replaces Jeremy Grantham, who will remain a board member and continue as GMO's chief investment strategist.

Mr. Divecha's vice chairman position won't be filled, the spokesman said.

In a statement, Mr. Grantham praised Mr. Divecha's dedication to GMO's investment-focused culture.
