Sports and Cultural Budget Expansion

To increase the interaction between seniors, juniors and in general all hostel mates, hostel has been trying various things. One of the steps suggested by alumni core team is to increase the sports and cultural budget by the same amount. Thus now we have a total of Rs 50,000 each for sports and cultural funds.

The main motive is increase the participation and interaction level amongst the heptalites.

Book Racks

The proposal to install book racks in each and every hostel room has been approved and the first phase of implementation has started. It involves a design competition by hostel mates and design suggestions from 'The Design Cell' of IITB. The installtion will be done for a set of 50 rooms at a time.

ALUMNI ROOMS & STORE SHED

The proposal to have 2 Alumni Rooms in the hostel with minimum amenities was discussed. Since the hostel is allowed to use maximum of 5 rooms for hostel purposes, it was decided to construct a shed type structure (as constructed by the contractors for keeping their materials) to dump in the broken furniture and fixtures. The Alumni rooms will have sliding partition. For Constructing the shed, 30ft x 18 ft, the estimate received is Rs.2.01 Lakhs. The renovation and other amenities will cost another 1 Lakh.

field LIGHTINGS

Hostel need lighting arrangements in gardens, play grounds and entrance. We have estimated about Rs.100000-00 for this. We have already installed metal alloy lights in the football and volleyball fields. Installtions of security as well as entrance lights is in progress.

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

Hostel council has decided to budget Rs.100000-00 for improvement of the Hostel Music Room. We have already purchased a Drums set (the best one available in market), Electric Guitar, Amplifier, Dholak, Synthesizer and other smaller components. 

The hostel is performing consistently in the field Music at various institute level cultural events/competitions.

LOUNGE AND LIBRARY UPLIFT

Hostel 7 library and lounge need a face lift, we budget this to Rs.100000-00.

We have already purchased 200 odd books for the library from the allocated funds. The library cupboards have been revamped. The purchase of new cupboard and sofa sets in under review.

BASKETBALL COURT & FOOTER FIELD

For basket ball court construction the estimate got is for Rs.2,97,250-00 (with concrete floorings as the asphalting flooring is not [possible due to certain construction obstacles). The footer court renovation estimate is Rs.54000-00.

FOUTAIN & GARDEN DEVELOPMENT

The estimate for fountain is Rs.65000 and the statue of the lady cost will be around Rs.40000-00. The proposed Garden developments will be costing around Rs. 1 Lakh for cleaning, filling, leveling, constructing sitting benches, providing umbrella structures etc.
