1) ACTIVITY ROOM
Currently, there is no place for a hostel library. It would be highly beneficial for the students of the hostel if a library were to be arranged, which would double up as a study room during examinations and otherwise.
More importantly, all council meetings and similar activities are so far held in the mess at night. There is no provision of space for intra hostel competitions, workshops, events, literary activities, skit writing, plays, etc. Hence, they have to be conducted in the mess or lounge, which do not have sufficient space. This causes a lot of inconvenience to other students in the place who are not involved. Also, there is no Alumni Room in the hostel. All the alumni-student meeting for mentoring has to be organised in mess or TV room.
Indoor games such as carom and chess are played in the lounge, which is quite disturbing for the players, due to the noise from TV and surroundings. It would be highly encouraging for them if we could provide an environment for the same.
The preliminary practice for events like Dram, PAF, Gyrations also has to be done in the mess, which is not feasible due to the above mentioned reasons. Until now, all such activities take place in the mess after the stipulated dinner timing, at night. We have been unable to utilize the day or evening, so far.
Lastly, we don’t have a sports room where we can store our sports equipment for outdoor games such as cricket, football, hockey, etc. This might result in misplacement or loss of the equipment.
Hostel inmates have raised a unanimous voice regarding the urgency of an activity room, as described above, preferably constructed above the mess/ lounge
2) CANTEEN GARDEN
Garden near canteen is in pathetic condition; it is un-levelled and seems to be of no use. It is planned to make this garden a proper place to sit and to use it as the canteen veranda. To accomplish this, proper levelling and maintenance of this ground, proper lightning and most importantly decent table-chairs with shade are needed.
3) BOOK RACK
Currently we do not have any place to keep our books in the room. Most of the students have double occupancy, have to share one cupboard for all personal stuffs and further they do not have any space to keep the books. Hence, a wooden book rack, fitted at wall is needed for every room in the hostel.
4) BASKETBALL COURT CUM AN OPEN AIR INTERACTIVE STAGE
Currently our basky court is not in a situation to be either used for basketball or an open air stage. The renovation of basketball court is the major project we are undertaking this year. Here are some of the benefits if the project is successful
1. Ofcourse, our hostel would be first to have its own basky court.
2. It can be used as a place for prod work in PAF.
3. Movie shows can organize for the hexalites.
4. Practice for GC events can be carried out over there.
5. It can be used as a stage for intra events.
6. Also it will act as an informal hanging place for the hexalites.
These are just few of its benefits a successful execution of the project will act as a fuel in the ever burning hostel spirit for which the hexalites are already well known in the institute.
5) EXPANSION OF CULTURAL AND SPORTS BUDGET
Currently we could spend nearly 25 thousands in cultural and sports activities, but with time number of cultural and sports activities happening throughout the year has increased drastically. We need an enhanced budget for both cult and sports so as to make sure events happen properly and to enthuse the participants by providing incentives.
