Cemented Basketball & Badminton Court
A cemented half Basketball court is the most demanded wish of the hostel at this time. We are planning to construct a common cemented court for basketball and badminton .The dimension of the court is 47 feet by 50 feet and that of single badminton court is 44 feet by 17 feet. The plan and the quotations have been approved by the Dean IPS and is waiting the approval of the Estate Office.
Garden Renovation
The Garden in front of computer room has been the most under-utilized piece of real estate in the hostel. Some of our planned renovation involves a sitting area with benches and a table, solar-powered garden lighting and a garden bed. We intend starting the leveling of the ground soon.
Biometric Access Control System
Hostel 5 is the first hostel in the institute to have a biometric system in the mess and the computer room. The system has proved to be really effective in automatically generating mess bills, consumption statistics, monitoring entries etc. The entire I-card based key issuance has been done away with in the Computer room, making it easily accessible. We intend doing the same for our other common rooms especially in the pool/TT room, gym room, music room etc.
Lounge, Reading Room & Mess Renovation
The lounge and mess look pretty dilapidated due to bad paint job and the aesthetics of the place. We would like to spruce up the place, to make it more aesthetically appealing and to bring in more people together. We would like to do a fresh paint job and have the upholstery and seating facilities upgraded.
The mess has been fitted with a full-size mirror which has facilitated better dance and drama practices etc. We also want to set-up a speaker system in the mess, which would help us organize more screenings of movies, matches and also improve the ambience of the mess.
Gym Room Renovation
The gym is fully functional now with a new paint job and the setting up of all the equipments, boxing bag, full-size mirror etc. We would like to upgrade the facilities and have proper rubber matting on the floor.
Music Room Renovation
Our music room requires quite a bit of maintenance. It is one of the most well equipped music rooms in the institute, but we again need to upgrade the speaker system and also purchase a mixer system, which would make the entire room more simpler to use.
