Give One for IIT Bombay
An Initiative under GO-IIT campaign
What is Give One for IIT Bombay?
Give One for IIT Bombay is a way to offer गुरूदक्षिणा to IITB. This unique campaign makes it possible for every alumnus to express his/her gratitude to IITB at any time with any amount. The insight behind this campaign is that a donation does not have to be “one time” or “a large sum” and an alumnus does not have to wait for years before giving back.
The name Give One is to express the guideline that alumni may give 1% of their annual income towards supporting IIT Bombay’s never ending “Tryst with Excellence”. Remember, this is just a guideline; no contribution is too small or too early. And it is entirely voluntary.
It is in this spirit, IITBAA and IITBHF launch Give One for IIT Bombay on the 26th December 2010, the Institute’s Alumni Day!
Over the years, we expect this to become a significant source of alumni donations to IITB.
Class of 2010 has shown us the way!
In a rare gesture of giving back to their alma mater, over 70% of the graduating class of 2010 pledged 1% of their annual salary to the Institute on their Convocation Day. Around 780 students of the graduating class have already signed a pledge to donate 1% of their annual salary. They are the first batch to have committed to start their giving back even before getting their first pay cheques!
What next?
“Give One for IIT Bombay” exhorts alumni to give back just 1% of their annual income toward supporting IIT Bombay’s never ending “Tryst with Excellence”.

with your name, amount donated, and a cause from the list below.
How will Give One contributions be utilized?
A Give One donor may choose to contribute towards his/her hostel, Institute development, faculty/staff, department, or student development or any other listed initiative of choice. The donor will get periodic updates about how Give One funds are being used. The funds collected through this initiative will be utilized for various initiatives strictly related to IIT Bombay and its community.
Tax deduction
All Give One donations are eligible for 100% tax deduction and a certificate will be supplied before the tax year ends.
