    Preliminary Agenda and Schedule

    FAN 2007 will be held over two days on July 8-9, 2007 in conjunction with IIT 2007 (http://www.iit2007.org) in Silicon Valley. Visit the following websites for more information or write to fan_team [at] iitbombay (dot) org:

    The goals of FAN 2007 are:

    • Networking between IIT Bombay faculty and FAN members

    • Interviews for academic and research positions at IIT Bombay

    The event will begin in the afternoon on Sunday, July 8, right after PanIIT 2007, and continue on July 9. The venue for July 8 will most likely be the Pan IIT conference center and the one for July 9 is to be determined ... watch this space for further information.

    A draft agenda for FAN 2007 is as follows:

    1. The event will begin with introductory comments about the Faculty Academic Network and IIT Bombay's Golden Jubilee plans.

    2. An Energy Research Symposium will be held in the afternoon, led by Prof. Rangan Banerjee and other notable academics.

    3. Keynote talks in the afternoon and over dinner in the evening.

    4. A networking reception in the evening with senior academics and faculty members, alumni, and FAN members.

    5. On Monday, July 9, senior IIT Bombay faculty members will interview prospective candidates for academic positions in IIT Bombay.

    FAN Objectives

    • Assist in making IIT Bombay a world class research and teaching institution
    • Raise the visibility of IIT Bombay graduate students, and faculty world wide
    • Help to improve teaching programs at both the graduate and undergraduate levels
    • Help with faculty recruiting, as IIT Bombay works to grow faculty levels
    • Help departments and individuals to develop world class research programs, and to disseminate the output of these programs.
