The Reunion is being planned on a weekend in the month of Dec 2010 or January 2011.
A typical plan may include spending half a day at the IIT campus and then two nights outside to spend quality time for bonding or just chilling out - the ideas for which included a nice hotel like Renaissance (Powai), or a resort at a drivable distance from Mumbai, or an overnight cruise.. We are checking feasibility & costing for these options. Meanwhile if you have any preference or any other smarter ideas – do write back at the earliest.
I will keep on reporting status updates regularly. Meanwhile please send in your confirmation for participating in this grand Reunion and comments about preferred dates and programme venue.
The reunion activities have gathered tremendous momentum. The organizing committee has been expanded and individual members have been assigned specific responsibilities with defined targets –as follows
- Contact List of members : Aggressively pursue to get contact details of maximum batch-mates (Target 100 by end Nov, 200 by End Dec 2009 and over 90% of potential by end Feb 2010) : Kumar Shah & Sudarshan Saraf.
- Updating contact list & take ownership of Reunion yahoo group IITB197040YR : Rasik Mhatre (Don)
- IIT Campus Visit Arrangements : ( To freeze by end Jan 2010) Sudarshan Saraf & Vijay Naik
- Party Arrangements – Cruise or Visit to resort (To freeze by end Feb 2010) – Nelson Fernandes
- Programme Arrangements: Complete details of 2 or 3 days reunion programme (To freeze by end March 2010) - Chandu Bhide & Arvind Korde
- Souvenirs – Freeze plan by end April 2010. –Vijay Parekh
- Treasury: Funds Management, Budgeting, Accounting etc –Sushil Harlalka
- Aaloke Surie & Ajit Gujar –We haven’t yet assigned a task to either.

I am sure over the next few weeks/months; the committee heads will expand their committees and chalk out a detail action plan. Feel free to contact the concerned committee head to send in your suggestions or willingness to join as volunteers. We will also form a few more committees as the activities expand and we come closer to the D-day.
The respective committee heads have been authorized to communicate with you on various issues related to their specific responsibility –seeking your suggestions, comments on ideas, requesting to volunteer etc. I am sure you will extend them necessary support, to make this reunion a big success.
Please go thru the list of members on the reunion yahoo group IITB197040YR and if you know any of our batch-mates who are missing from the list, please send contact details to Kumar & Sudu with cc to Rasik. The #1 priority now is to get as many guys within our communication circle as possible, to offer them opportunity to participate in this event.
The possible dates for the reunion are still under discussion and the toss up is between Dec 2009 and Jan 2010 –Typically Friday to Sunday. Rasik has already set up a poll on the yahoo-group. Please indicate your choice, so we could firm up the dates convenient to the most.
As it may sound tempting, I would urge you guys not to communicate to the whole group anytime. Do write to the concerned committee head or to me. This is not to discourage or dampen your enthusiasm, but just to avoid any confusion in communication. Looking forward to your suggestions, comments as well as active participation.
A small additional request. If anyone has mail IDs of any of our friends not covered on the Yahoo Group, please provide the same to us – so that these guys could be included in our regular communications. We don’t want to miss out reaching out to any of our batch-mates and would love to offer them the opportunity to join us in this celebration. Since all communications are being handled by Rasik (DON) Mhatre you will be receiving all communications to the iitbombay.org Class of 1970 group from his email ID which is rasikdon@gmail.com. Please send any missing email IDs to him also.
Once you are on the Yahoo Group then that will be the primary communication medium.
