IITB Inter-hostel cricket match

After a great Golden Jubilee Outreach program on 21st July (we had 125 people showing up!), we have our next IITBAA Bangalore chapter event coming up:

IITB Inter-hostel cricket match over Beer & Biryani! - on August 15th.

Details:

  1. Tennis ball cricket
  2. 8 overs, 8 a side
  3. Inter-hostel. Draws will be made at the venue.
  4. Spouse/kids of hostelites welcome.
  5. Beer & Biryani over lunch (BYOB+B)
  6. Start: 10 am on August 15th.
  7. Venue: NRA Grounds, Jayamahal Road, Next to Fun World.
  8. Charges (to cover the ground rental): Rs. 150/- per head.
Last year, we had a series of 8-over matches in the day - with an opportunity for everybody to join the fun!

Directions: From Cantonment station, you take the road towards FunWorld (you have to go through the underbridge). Take a left at the underbridge onto Jayamahal Road. The gate for NRA grounds is approx 500 meters *before* the FunWorld gate. Its opposite a mosque on the road.

There is a board mentioning "NRA grounds" visible from the road (on the left hand side when you come from Cantonment station)

For those who have Independence Day functions to attend, please join us once you finish. With such great weather, we can play all day and relive the hostel rivalries!

Golden Jubilee Outreach Program

On behalf of IITBAA (Bangalore Chapter), we would like to invite you to the Golden Jubilee Outreach Program on July 21st 2007 in Bangalore.
The Golden Jubilee celebrations of IIT Bombay will be celebrated from September 2007 to March 2009.The formal inauguration is scheduled for 5th September 2007, the auspicious teachers' day. The concluding ceremony will be held on 10th March 2009, the 50th foundation day.
The period will be an occasion to celebrate our past achievements, and embark on new initiatives. IIT Bombay's Golden Jubilee celebrations will be used as an opportunity to

  • Launch major new initiatives
  • Celebrate successes of the past years
  • Reflect on the past and plan for the future
All stakeholders will be invited to participate: The Government of India, Corporate houses, Alumni, Students, Faculty and the local community.
The outreach programs are a joint initiative between IITB/ IITBAA and the chapter volunteers of IITBAA. The contents of these outreach programs tentatively will include:
  • a short film on IITB & that on the R & D progress
  • a ppt about Golden Jubilee
  • a travelling exhibition may be arranged by by IRCC/PRO depicting R & D progress, IITB achievements, campus infrastructure and campus life.
No. of IITB Alumni expected: 150

Other key participants from IIT Bombay : Prof. Ashok Mishra – Director, Prof. Phatak – Computer Science – Convenor, Prof Uday Desai – Electrical Engineering , Prof Pradipto Banerjee - Dean, Alumni Affairs & International Relations apart from several Distinguished Alumni.

Venue: Hotel Royal Orchid Central (in Manipal Center on Dickenson Road )
Date: July 21st 2007 - 3 pm to 5 pm
