Dear Friend,

It gives me great pleasure to report to you in this millennial year that IIT Bombay, besides appointing Professor Ashok Misra as the new Director, has already implemented new programs that will bring our Institute to the forefront of world-class Universities. As many of you know, in the last couple of months we had a successful US-wide tour of unprecedented six high-level representatives of IIT. Thank you all for participating in the various chapter events and the Road show, hosted by these distinguished IIT professors and alumni.

Attached is a summary of the exciting Chapter activities in the last twelve months. The organization has been very active, and has been able to offer tremendous networking opportunities for our alumni. Besides the get-togethers arranged by your local chapters and the speaker-series events of distinguished alumni, we also have unveiled two important initiatives. One is the online database. If you have not registered yet, please do so soon. The database has ample security features built in to block unwanted access to your personal information while enabling your friends to locate you. Also, the ID that you create for yourself in the database will become part of your life-long email address, when we unveil the auto-forwarding of emails as the second initiative. There are many new exciting initiatives being sponsored under the auspices of the Heritage Fund. Several Distinguished Alumni have taken on the championing of those initiatives. Year 2000 was our year of new challenges. We now look forward to achieving the goals we have outlined in the presentation.
